EG POS – a new and improved edition

We are very pleased to introduce a totally new version of POS. We have been working with this for quite a long time, and now we are finally able to present it to all our customers. If your chain wants to test the new UI, you are welcome to contact Roar Brevik (rbrev@eg.no).

Why do we need a new user interface?

EG POS is perceived by our users as easy to use and easy to learn. After several years without major changes in the user interface, we think it is time for a modernization and a "facelift". During this process, it has been important for us to maintain the ease of use, and the range of functionality. At the same time, it has been a goal to improve user processes based on input from our retail chains.

Although the changes are extensive, users will recognize it and be able to use the new interface without need for new training.

What's new?

We have made a lot of improvements, here are some of the most important:

  • New login page with configurable background image for branding

  • Better and more intuitive receipt view with integrated buttons (frees up space in button panels)

  • Better weighting of key elements (easier and more intuitive navigation)

  • Options for color adjustments: We launch a new interface with two skins - a light one and a dark one. In addition, you can add a selection of contrast colors

  • Better adaptation to wide screen format

  • New alphabetical keyboard (same as in self-service and on customer screen)

  • Better and more informative title line:

    • New icons for different statuses

    • Improved process orientation. The title bar always shows information about what you are working on at the moment

  • New configurable search menu

  • Improved item search with more space for displaying search results and three different views (list view, detail view and grid view)

  • Clearer distinction between edit mode and payment mode when working with customer orders

  • Context specific buttons in menu and function panels

See the following examples:

Two different skins with three optional contrast colors

The new interface has two different skins - light and dark mode. In both, it is possible to select contrasting colors on key elements such as OK button, header color and colored icons in the receipt. You can choose between shades of gray, teal or blue. It is also possible to order the desired contrasting colors that harmonize with the chain's profile for branding.

The new user interface is released in EG POS version 4.0. This can be used in parallel with version 3.0 so that you can test on selected cash registers in the test environment and afterwards in the production environment.

POS Server needs to be upgraded to the latest version to test new interface.
