Have you registered a meter with the wrong ID, or discovered that the same meter appears more than once in Mestro Portal? This article explains what to do.

Why do duplicates or incorrect meter IDs occur?

The most common causes are:

  • The meter was registered manually with a misspelled or incorrect ID
  • An automatic or remotely read meter was added again by mistake, creating a duplicate
  • The meter ID at the utility or sub-metering company has changed and no longer matches what is in the portal

What ID should a meter have?

For automatic and remotely read meters, the meter ID must exactly match the ID used by the utility company or sub-metering company — otherwise no data can be collected. The correct ID can usually be found on your invoice from the utility company.

For manual meters, you can choose the ID yourself when registering the meter.

What should I do?

You cannot change the ID of an automatic or remotely read meter yourself in the portal. Please contact Mestro support and we will help you with one of the following:

  • Correct the meter ID – if the meter exists but has the wrong ID, we will update it so that data collection can start.
  • Remove a duplicate – if the same meter has been added more than once, we will delete the incorrect entry.

What do I need when contacting support?

  • The meter's Node ID in Mestro Portal (found in the portal or in the URL)
  • The correct meter ID from the invoice or utility company
  • If there is a duplicate: the Node ID of both meters so we know which one to remove
  • No labels
