Sizing of terminal or Citrix server
When sizing terminal or Citrix servers, we recommend, in order to find the most optimal number of users per server and the appropriate amount of CPU, that you test at least 1 server with full load over a longer period. This is recommended since the use of a terminal or Citrix server often varies, both within ASPECT4 and especially if other programs/applications are run from the same server..
CPU:
When allocating CPU, you should only allocate up to the number of virtual CPUs that are available when virtualizing and not use an overcommitted number. If poor performance is experienced, it is most often due to a lack of CPU resources and in these cases you can do one of the following:
- Cut down the number of users per server / more servers.
- Assign more CPUs per server. Generally, up to 8 CPUs per server are recommended.
- Switch to a more powerful type of CPU.
RAM
As a starting point, 768MB RAM per user is recommended for ASPECT4. If other programs/applications are run together with ASPECT4, the RAM consumption for these will be added.
OS
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or newer.
