Purpose

For anyone in CuHa Finland to be able to order domains and set the A-records. Also included are the instructions for making Mail Forwards.

Scope

Anyone who is responsible of ordering domains to clients.

Procedures

  • Step 1: Log in

  • Step 2: Ordering a domain

    • Step 2.1: Click “Register”
    • Step 2.2: Type in the wanted domain and click “Search”.
    • Step 2.3: If the domain is available click the shopping cart/+ icon on the right and then click “Next step”.
    • Step 2.4 The Shopping cart will automatically try to order the domain for 2 years, change it from the dropdown menu to 1 and click “Next step”.
    • Step 2.4 Go through the ordering flow until the order has been validated
    • Step 2.5 Wait until the domain is configured
  • Step 3: Setting up A-records for a domain

    • Step 3.1 Go to “Manage my domains” and search the domain from the list
    • Step 3.4 Click the “Manage” button from the right on the same row where domain name is
    • Step 3.5 Click “Manage zone” under the “Dns zone” headline
    • Step 3.6 Click the “New record” button
    • Step 3.7 Click the edit icon
    • Step 3.8 Choose “A (IPv4 Address) from the “Type” dropdown menu
    • Step 3.9 Add “52.51.189.19” to the IPv4 field
    • Step 3.10 Choose 10 m to the TTL field
    • Step 3.11 Click “Save record”
    • Step 3.12 Click again the “New record” button
    • Step 3.13 Click the edit icon
    • Step 3.14 Choose “A (IPv4 Address) from the “Type” dropdown menu
    • Step 3.15 Add “52.51.189.19” to the IPv4 field
    • Step 3.16 Choose 10 m to the TTL field
    • Step 3.17 To the Host field add “www.” in front of the domain name
    • Step 3.18 Click “Save record”
    • Step 3.19 Delete the original A -record row (185.53.177.20)
    • Step 3.20 Click “Save zone”
    • Step 3.21 Make sure the domain is added to Hallinta to the webpage field without the “www.” part.
  • Step 4: Setting the Mail Forward for a domain

    • Step 4.1 Click “New record”
    • Step 4.2 Go to Type and choose “Mail Forward” from the dropdown menu
    • Step 4.3 Add the wanted name in the text field as “wanted_name@domainname.fi” for example info@timma.fi
    • Step 4.4 Add the email the client wants the emails to be forwarded to to the “Forward to” field. For example matti.meikalainen@gmail.com
    • Step 4.5 Click “Save record”
    • Step 4.6 Click “Save zone”

    This way all the emails sent to info@timma.fi would be forwarded to matti.meikalainen@gmail.com.
